If You Don’t Ride, You Don’t Know
I guess that’s another version of “if I have to explain it, you wouldn’t understand”, but so be it. That said, PLEASE CHECK OUT THIS MUSIC VIDEO!
Let me begin by saying that I really don’t care for country music. At all. But I love this song and the video is awesome! I thought it was a main stream country song video because of the production quality. After all, I wouldn’t know what was out there because that’s NOT something I follow.
This song SAYS IT ALL about riding:
“If you don’t ride, then you don’t know.
It’s in our blood, it’s in our soul.
It’s all about the healing you get,
From the open road.”
These guys are from the Cleveland area, and in the video, they’re riding where we often ride. There are so many places in this video that I recognize… the Jake (now Progressive Field), the Hillside bridge, Rt 21, Brecksville (intersection of Rts. 21 & 82), Valley View, the Pleasant Valley Rd turn off for the ramp down to Canal Rd… we ride these areas all the time. Some of the rest is familiar but I haven’t placed it yet, probably somewhere in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, or maybe over by Tinkers Creek, or somewhere in the Metroparks.
We ride the valley a lot and we’ve seen this guy around. You can bet we’ll be looking for him at Bike Night at Quaker Steak… I’d love to shake his hand and tell him how much we love his video. It really hit home. I had tears in my eyes as I began to recognize all the familiar places. Geez, how I couldn’t wait to ride when I saw that; I found this video in late winter so riding weather was still a ways away. It made me want to get back out on the open road! (Sigh)
Feel the wind, baby, feel the wind.

Open Road
Nothing beats riding. And when you get home, sometimes you do just— head back on out to the open road.
